Apple Tree I and II (2010), 9 x 12" and Fall Foliage (2010), 8 x 10"

Three paintings in two days! I completed another pair of paintings, this time two apple trees (really the same apple tree in two color schemes).
I thought I needed a good fall foliage painting for the next show in September. I had been wanting to paint this particular photo for about a year. I found the original photo on flickr.com.I love this photographer's fall foliage pictures: http://www.flickr.com/photos/indykethdy/Photo used under a creative commons license. Bluebell Forest (2010), 8 x 10"

A fairytale-like scene--a forest carpeted in bluebells. I was desperately searching for a photo to paint when I unexpectedly came upon this scene. It was another one of those occasions when I began painting immediately after finding the perfect photo!

SOLD!

Early Spring at the Arboretum (2010), 11 x 14"

This original oil painting painting is based on a photo I took at the arboretum on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The photo was taken in the evening as the sun was setting and the light was reflecting off the white-barked sycamore trees in a fascinating way.

SOLD!

Middle Fork River Forest Preserve (Summer and Fall) (2009), 8 x 10"

In the tradition of Monet, I painted two different versions of this forest scene. For the fall version, I turned everything orange that was green. The major challenge was duplicating the shapes and placement of the trees.

Both paintings are available as gicleƩ prints--visit my etsy shop.

Both paintings are sold.
