I have been wanting to paint hay bales for a long time. Maybe it is because I live in farm country and they are ubiquitous to the landscape, or maybe it is because I just love their shape. I was experimenting with the rather fantastical/impressionistic color palette I used. I've not yet decided if I think it works... However, I do like how it looks when framed.

Very nice. Did you do this en plein air or from a picture? Bales of hay are such a classic scene and I've always wanted to do this.
ReplyDeleteIt's based on a photo I found on the site morguefile.com. http://www.morguefile.com/archive/display/205564 I find many of my photos here since I am not much of a photographer. I agree, hay bales are a classic and I wanted to see what I could do with this subject!
